We understand that the loss of a loved one is a stressful and emotional time, and we are here to help. We will take the burden off you by guiding you through the probate and estate administration process from start to finish.
Probate is a process by which a person, called the Personal Representative (also known as the Executor), is appointed by the Probate Court to wrap up the affairs of a deceased person. A personal representative’s jobs include gathering the deceased person’s assets, paying any debts, filing any necessary tax returns, and distributing the remaining assets to those entitled to receive them. In Maine, the probate process is relatively simple, and in most situations, no court appearances are necessary.
